That's quite possible, but the voters who see their value going down the gurgler will be far more likely to turf them out than now, when it is not clear at all what the value of a citizenship is. <we will still have elected leaders and those leaders will debase the citizenship in the same way they debase currency.> A rising or falling currency is not a certain guide [exporters typically think a falling one is good and importers like a rising one], GDP per capita is not a necessarily accurate guide because figures can be fiddled and digging and filling in holes can make a great GDP though the process is of no benefit to anyone. When a share price is quoted, shareholders are very aware that their value is going down the gurgler.

Look at Facebook shareholders moaning. If there was no share price and they had to judge value by how many subscribers are involved, they might think they are doing okay. With their share price having plunged, they know they are unhappy.

The fact that Tradable Citizenship would not solve all problems from warts and AIDS to Peak People, reglaciation, tsunami and volcanic eruptions doesn't mean it's no good. Being better than the existing hopeless system is all that's needed. Most things are incremental improvements. The Model T Ford wasn't spectacularly improved with the Model A Ford, but the incremental gains led to the spectacularly amazing automotive technology now available.
