Andy,

WRT: Take a look at ESOL or COMS

Good examples of how apparently strong stocks my go south. Not to stomp on your lesson plan however, oh revered one, but grasshopper have a comment:

I've played and profited handsomely from both of these since March'97. Based on my undrstanding of the underlying funnymentals and their price action over this period I offer the following suggestions:

1. Stay away from ESOL at this time, any strength its sector or its revenue may suggest is more then offset by the accounting and debt issues which continue to plauge this company. Its been good to me this year, but I'd be very cautious with it right now... earning are habitually disapointing... not a sign of a strong stock.

2. Get ready to jump into COMS when it crosses up through 36 (and don't be real surprised if it falls back to the high 20's before it does this). Recent slide was preceeded by massive insider selling and announcement of clogged distribution channels (and they don't even know how much product is in the channel)... not a good sign in the ever expanding modem/networking sector. If you're not currently in COMS now I would definetly hold off until after earning (Dec 17th?) to enter it.... if you want to play network stocks -- check out Mr. Wizzard's company (CSCO).

these are personnal observations only, your mileage may vary

Happy Thanksgiving to all on the thread (and especially to my TAOTN inlaws - you know who you are)
