I think so, Ramsey is not altogether clear on the point. The distinction I think is that REITs distribute income directly to the unit owners while this new 'n improved scheme securitizes the income stream, and the security (right to income being attached) is sold after being bundled into something larger. A lot like the income from mortgages was securitized, bundled, sold to the suckers.

That's what I get out of it, anyway.

I wonder if any derivatives will get sold once this scheme gets going? One would think not (once burned, etc.) but it is easy to underestimate Wall St.'s greed.

Seems to explain the revived market in Phoenix.
