Hi Dwight, in response to something you had over at the 'Econ - Big Picture' thread:

Message 2737900

... I'm responding here because more mileage might be gained for people specifically into networkers:

Have you considered Bay (putting aside my recent 'involvement')?
I look at this, this, and this:

biz.yahoo.com
biz.yahoo.com
biz.yahoo.com
still more: biz.yahoo.com

... not to mention the general 'vibe' I see in and around the company, and I'm pretty convinced that Bay is eagerly looking beyond just the hardware side of the biz. They realize (IMO only) that simply selling a router to every kid on the block (my slacker-schmuck ISP?) is a small picture.

Software and support services are where it's at (my dumbass ISP could sure use some support). Consider, too, market caps (CSCO!) and who has room for substantial growth. Just my two pennies to what you mentioned about the sector:

"It's bothersome to me that so many companies are staking their growth plans on networking equipment. It's the "all the eggs in one basket" type of thinking,..."
