We develop the technology and then sell it off cheap to other countries. Think Sunpower. That was an American company that Total of France just bought. Too bad we can't make a commitment to a clean energy future with energy independence in mind and stick to it for the long run. I wish we could. It would lower the overhead in this country substantially over the long run, because we wouldn't feel the need to spend trillions on wars and armies to protect our oil interests overseas. Obama said it best...he said there is a nexus between terrorism, oil, and war. Clean, domestic energy is the way out of that vicious circle. Too bad he got distracted by Healthcare, the Financial Crisis, and so many other things. That was a silver bullet that he should have banked his entire Presidency on. In fact, it was why I voted for him.
