Interesting SparQ/Syjet pricing:

Just received my "CDW Catalogue of the Week" (!). On page 56, there's a half page listing for SparQ and SyJet. The interesting thing is that SparQ ("Get professional tools at a fraction of the cost") is $199.99 <for the drive only>; "Media sold separately" is appears next to the picture of the drive. The media, of course, is $99.00 for three 1-gig cartridges. Total price: 3 gigs for $298.99.

On the other side of the page, the "flagship" SyJet is priced at $299.99 internal/external/SCSI/parallel, doesn't matter <and> in addition to the 1.5 gig cartidge that comes with the drive, either CDW or Syquest is throwing in another 1.5 gig cartridge. Total price: 3 gigs for $299.99.

There has been discussion before on this thread as to what impact SparQ will have on SyJet; maybe the question should be the other way around. Why would I buy what I understand to be the technically less sophisticated SparQ--the specs listed for both show the SparQ to be much slower--when I can have the SyJet, that "flies faster than any other removable cartridge product" (ad copy), for the same money?

Don't flame me--I'm not advocating buying either; it's just illustrative of what I hope will be/is an inept marketing effort.

RE: Major Resistance at $35? **MARKET TIMING**

I've seen literally dozens of people on this thread say that they are "selling at $35" or that "we're going to $35". This should provide some serious resistance, particulary if that view is shared by investors outside of this thread. In addition, we have the secondary offering from a year and a half ago at $35.

I've been tempted to put in limit orders to trade "within the range", but am becoming less and less comfortable doing so. I think IOM is almost ready to explode, and that we'll be surprised just how easily it breaks through resistances and just how high it will go. I think we might bounce off of $35 once or twice, but I don't think we'll drop far from that high when we do.

I also that that the resistance at $35 will be far weaker (if it still exists) at $17.5 after the split.
