I fully agree with you on all points, Farm. There are ancillary effects on the rest of us as well. When druggies and drunkards spend most of their time inebriated, their lives are typically spirally down the tubes until they destroy themselves and often the people around them. While you and I are at work, or otherwise doing something productive that doesn't produce a drain on society or lead to our early demise, the druggies and drunkards are blitzed out of their minds while their lives crumble down around them. Then, suddenly, they're victims!!! We've heard it a million times. "Oh poor me! I'm a victim of the drugs and booze! I need help! Society owes me! You don't know what it's like! Blah-blah-blah." To hell with that. Damnit, the first rule in life is that life sucks. It's a bitch from day 1 in a dog-eat-dog world -- and then you die. As soon as a man accepts that rule as a fact and completely tunes out all of the happy-go-lucky-don't worry-be-happy bullshit espoused by the left, he will have a much easier time in life and find some degree of happiness. My wife and I have made good money in our lives because we always lived well below our means and took a realistic view of the fu¢ked-up world around us. We paid cash as much as possible along the way, rather than yielding to impulsive desires and running up debt where we would have to pay other people for the privilege of living beyond our means. No way! The same analogy is true for the druggies and drunkards. Sure, we could all sit around stoned and drunk all day everyday, but what then? What happens next? I have nothing against enjoying a cold beer or a glass of wine with friends, but that's the end of it. It's not an out that I would ever abuse to escape the cold realities of the world. I'd rather face them on my feet and sober with the marbles the good Lord saw fit to give me. Of course, if someone wants to use chemicals to escape, who cares, but do NOT send me the damn bill for the aftermath and do not drive around or walk around terrorizing and threatening the innocent! -nfg-
