"Evolution neither proves or disproves the existence of god"

Irrelevant. When there is no evidence for something it demonstrates ignorance to assert it as a fact.. There are an infinite number of things we have no evidence for (demons live in the moon, the world was created by dinosaurs, Zeus is the head of a group of gods with supernatural powers, etc.).

"what does religion have to do with the existence of god ?"

Those who promote the idea of a god generally offer some religious dogma as "evidence". If you wish to break that tradition by offering some non-religious "evidence" which appeals to you--please feel free.

The fact that thousands and thousands of different and incompatible "gods" have been invented to explain a whole lot of questions humans have had over the centuries would suggest that religion does not have the answer to god. If you have followed this thread for awhile you may be aware that there is a very vocal opposition to the teaching of Science based on the fact that it contradicts religious dogma.

But if religion has nothing to do with god (as your comment suggests)--then would you be so kind as to point to something that does have something "to do with the existence of god ?"
