What should we spend for the sake of spreading freedom and democracy? What happens when people get a taste?

Look to history!

It seems the achilles heel of democracy is its inability to control spending. Once a spending program gets launched it developed a constituency of supporters who will do anything to keep the cash flowing. They lobby, bribe, spread propaganda - whatever it takes to keep the program alive. The majority gets bought off and the spending goes on.

Multiply that one program a thousands of times and you have the larded US govt. Even in the defense budget (look at the F-35).

Liberals, of course, are the worst in this respect. They wrote the manual. But we conservatives aren't always as sinless as we believe. Witness the spending increases under "big-government-conservative" GWB.

Something has to change. Throwing out Obama is a necessary step, but it's only the first step on a long road IMO.
