Dell'Oro Group 3Q97 Router & Remote Access Report; Softness in
High End and Midrange Routers; Access Concentrator Market
Contracts for the First Time

PORTOLA VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 25, 1997--Router sales grew at
a sluggish 5 percent over the second quarter to $1.3 billion while Remote Access sales
were flat at $600 million.

Low End Routers and FRADs experienced the highest growth, each segment increasing
15 percent over the previous quarter. Access Concentrator revenues declined for the first
time by 3 percent, while Access Servers recovered, growing by 12 percent. The net effect
was flat quarter-to-quarter revenue growth for the Remote Access market.

growth and Access Concentrators with 25 percent growth over last quarter," said Denise
Barton, Director, Internet Infrastructure at the Dell'Oro Group. "In addition to a substantial
lead in Routers, Cisco continues to gain ground in Remote Access, where they grew by a
healthy 8 percent."
