Excellent advice. I am always amazed at how people come right up to Koty and try to pet him. It's both rude and stupid.

You definitely don't want to try an pet these puppies cnn.com

OT:Actually my bad word usage---my natural action with a dog is offer hand palm up first to let them sniff, and then the pat---that is if the dog and i aren't yet friends--that is when they spot you and start to wag the tail or whatever:) Max
On my moving to Maine 30 years ago i got toknow a dog i knew nothing of---what are , i know now, of course, are affectionately called "Newfies"---what a dog! The Gentle Giant/a Love Dog-- trouble is, because of their short life span(about 9)---i have seen owners go into deep mourning on a NewFoundland Retriever pass-on.
But they need live in northern climes, that a for sure.
But i have seen tourist up here turn pale with terror when a "Newfie" comes bounding up to them--scary for them--if they only knew it just wants a hug:) Max
