Fred,

Representation was very fast for me on all orders at Web Street today, like Datek when Datek works. Cancellations were almost instantaneous as reflected on the level II. I'm happy with the fills today too. Web Street has improved this week on the speed department at the web site too, with the order entry confirmation screen appearing right away. That could be due to my upgrading to Netscape 4.04 from 4.03. According to a tip I got on the Datek thread, java runs much faster with this upgrade.

Fred, maybe you should deduct a 1/2 point from NBD for no representation. I'm hoping you'll try to BUY a stock for one of these comparisons one day as short selling involves Web Street checking share availability by phone.

Here's a few tips for anyone looking for speed and efficiency at the Web Street site. Since I have my own real time quote feed with charts, level II, etc., I don't like to clutter my screen with the Web St. page when I'm getting ready to order. So I drag the Web St. Navigator window to the left side of my monitor so that it's just a strip showing the order portion of the Trading Pit. That way I can place the order while staying up on any developments, then drag back when I want to confirm. The fact that the order screen does not erase makes it great for fast entry for the next order, or to change price quickly before confirming if something on screen alerts me. Of course if you subscribe to Web Street's real time quotes or level II, you'll want the Web Street page full screen.

Extensive use of Navigator's frame functions back and forward (click right mouse button) allows quick movement from order confirm screen to order status etc., without erasing information. This is a great way to to keep up on your orders without having to access new data. Remember that if you are looking for new information on a particular screen you back or forward scroll to, you must click on reload frame.

Hope this helps someone experimenting with Web Street. I'd love to hear any tips other users have discovered.

Esteban

I'm not sure you COULD be represented on the offer with that order. Since you were not filled, I assume that HCOM was showing a downtick. I believe NASDAQ rules are forbidding offers that LOCK the market. If your limit was 8 5/8, maybe you should have offered at 8 3/4 or 11/16 to see if you got represented.
