Unfortunately, that is also true of some on the right.

The left will never "get" Palin and as such will always underestimate her.

I don't buy that interpretation.
Palin was open about wanting Newt to win the primaries.
At this point in Palin's career I'm not sure what there is to underestimate or overestimate. She's a commentator on the sidelines that has decided to not play an active role in 2012. That's fine - her choice.
