Brumar and Long have both been very good at documenting with credible references with regard to their opinions on almost all subjects. I may disagree with, or question, their opinions from time to time, but they provide sufficient documentation to make to think throw my opinions.

The bottom line is that the "jury is still out" on the subject of AGW. We simply lack sufficient data and understanding of climatic influences to possibly say "case closed" on whether AGW exists or not.

It matters not to me what the sources of CO2 are. What matters to me are why the natural systems that have sequestered and stored CO2 in the past are not working properly now (my pet issue is diminishing oceanic phytoplankton levels) and what can we do to augment/stimulate them to effect some form of "climatic constant" (an oxymoronic phrase, I'd admit) that prevents sharp changes in our global climate, regardless of the source of influence.

If CO2 levels are the causative factor of AGW, then we need to stimulate the planet's natural systems to sequester it.

If excess solar activity is causing global warming, we need to figure out a means of filtering it out and maintaining the climate as much as possible to suit our needs.

But we also need to look at what we can do to prevent or mitigate a cooling period as well.. In such an instance, we may actually encourage the spewing of excess CO2 (and methane and water vapor)..

Bottom line, SOMEHOW the planet was able to reverse all previous climatic extremes. The cooling that proceeded the Holocene was reversed to a warming trend. And eventually it will reverse again to a cooling trend (basic logic). We MUST understand the mechanisms by which such reversals were triggered.

And you cannot merely rely upon a few hundred years of data to achieve that understanding.
