Even in New York City, part time government employees making over $100k doesn't make a lot of sense. If they struggle on what they make, they can take some other full time job, or move out of the area.

And yes a lot of them work for the GOP, they are in the majority now, and the majority gets more of the cushy positions. I wasn't making a partisan point, having a bunch of over paid part time people on the government payroll, esp. when they largely serve as political operatives, isn't a good thing whatever party is doing it.
