bruwin, I'm catching up on the boards after a couple weeks away, and I gotta agree with you comments regarding sitting on the sidelines and mkt being directionless. I ask myself what would make the market go much higher right now and can't come up with many answers. With the market being so responsive to headlines/news I'm also cautious.

FWIW, my prime concerns of headline nature tend to negative at the moment:
1. China slowing
2. Europe slowing
3. U.S. debt and housing values.
4. Continuing Middle East instability

I'm sitting at a whole lot of cash - maybe 80% or so. Not necessarily waiting for the air to clear - that'll be too late to purchase the values - but I sense the bad news isn't fully appreciated yet.

The big positive out there seems to be that the U.S. economic numbers and corporate balance sheets may be doing better than we appreciate, but that is overwhelmed by 1-4 above.
