Is this what the office of the President of the United States has come to? Pandering for wedding and birthday money?

This one, yes. Imagine the field day the "media" would have were this GWB. N.Y. Times would be running above-the-fold, front-page stories about "hubris."

Why not? He's already tried to pander for cash via 20+ "sweepstakes":

This is just more of the same tackiness.

No, he just wants to tax them out of existence.

What a freaking joke... In lieu of birthday, graduation, wedding gifts, etc., make a donation to Barack Obama's campaign in my name? This is the most absurd thing to come out of his mind to date. What a bunch of ignorant arrogant douch-bags. Sorry to offend real douch-bags but this idiocracy has got to stop.

How about if I change my will, leaving everything to the Obama campaign and then shoot myself. Would that work for Dear Leader?

Pretty soon he will use an executive order to mandate it...

Also, buy a $500K term life insurance policy, name Obama as beneficiary, send a copy to Kathleen Sebilius, and then see how good your medical treatment will be once Obamacare goes full bore.

What's next?....should we ask friends and family to send donations to Obama in lieu of bereavement gifts?
This is an embarrassment.

this is very wrong... Obama should be notified of this and if he supports it- he has lost my support.... Whoever came up with this idea and approved it should be fired....

I asked everyone to get me a steaming pile of excrement for my birthday. I'll be sure to ask them to send it to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Maybe they can use it to fertilize the garden there.

Yeah, what a lovely sentiment... why would anyone question it. How about my birthday and Christmas presents as well; nobody except for Obama need any gifts, right?

Screw your happy day; we need money, give us yours.

What a lovely caring compassionate sentiment; how great to know Obama cares enough to take from you on your joyous occasion.

wow....not sure my young son will be too happy about giving up his birthday presents for BO to spend it all on celeb parties. Reminds me of the scene from the Grinch where he's shoving the christmas tree up the chimney.

And if you don't willingly hand over your birthday gifts, Obama will use an executive order to force you to hand them over.

“As long as I have the privilege of being your
President, I will be alongside you fighting for the country that we,
together, dream of.”

Let's all HOPE that that privilege ends in November, and we can collectively CHANGE the current resident of 1600 Penn. Ave.

POTUS: Romney vows to veto the Dream Act if he's president. "And we should take him at his word"

6 2 Reply•Share ›

gekkobear24 minutes ago parent
What DREAM Act? Where was that law passed?

Oh, you mean when the President unilaterally decided he could control laws and run the government himself with unlimited power?

“There are enough laws on the books by Congress that are very clear in
terms of how we have to enforce our immigration system that for me to
simply, through executive order, ignore those congressional mandates
would not conform with my appropriate role as President.” – President
Obama, May 2011.

I guess between May 2011 and now we redefined the appropriate role of President? Or is there some other reason a year ago Obama said the same thing Romney is saying now?

I guess if a President is down in the polls that laws, rules, and the Constitution don't matter and he has dictatorial powers? I don't remember that section of the Constitution.
