All bubbles end badly bringing on bear markets in the asset class in which the bubble pops.

The current credit bubble is doomed to failure. I think everyone here knows that to be true. Most of us would hope that the credit bubble can be simply deflated rather than have it blow up in our faces.

Unfortunately that is likely wishful thinking.

Just as no business can operate at a deficit forever, neither can a government, or country. An attempt to balance the budget will have to be made soon enough (after the election) or we will see grave consequences in the not too distant future.

But even if this all blows up in our faces in the worst possible way there will be opportunities to make money on the long side in the stock market.
