Never backtested but I suspect you are correct.

I think the game is to anticipate the new entries and pre exist those removed.

I'd say there may be a small impact - but I not be able to say up or down - so nothing to trade on - except you hold an individual stock that either adds to or is removed.

I've been thinking about the changes in the indexes and what effect if any it has on the charts, and I think it does have an effect.

I'm sure that I am not the first to figure this out but when there is a change in the index components, the trend line is not as relevant anymore because its not measuring the same thing. People must be ignoring this since I can't find anything on this issue being a problem.
