John: for every job in the export sector (or in any product generation sector) there are probably three domestic service sector jobs that go with it, so it is reasonable to scale up by that amount. When the widget factory slows down, the local services go down with it. I'd also guess that the percentage is higher than your numbers in the tech sector.
