If I am not mistaken, I read that the sound quality of ftels gateway varies with a delay
control. All I can say is that if the consumer has to do anything but talk on the phone
the product will fail

What do you mean by the above statment....'if the consumer has anything do.......'
Aren't phones used to mainly talk on?

Bill

crs, The feature that you refer to may well have to be included in most IP phones because the quality can change in the middle of your call. From what I understand, this is true of all competitors in this field and is more due to Internet Traffic than individual quality of the gateways.(Atin or Frank if you can give your thoughts on this,I'd appreciate it) These problems may eventually be taken care of, but in the meantime, it seems to be a necessity.

In regards to the hardware side, not being profitable, I respectfully beg the differ. Average profit margins between hardware manufacturing and the service side of the industry are not even comparable. Hardware averages anywhere from 50-80%, whereas the service side will be lucky for a 10% profit margin. Until the volume of calls reaches large volumes, the immediate winners will be more on the hardware side, IMO.

My one true critique of IDTC: as a Jersey guy, I can tell you that nothing good has come out of Hackensack, since Frank Sinatra, and he came from Hoboken!<GGGGGGGGGGG>

I did use FTEL gateway. I have made around 40 calls within 2 weeks.
As an example, I have called canada, then a long distance call and then a local call to my office. This three calls were done with 1 local dial, and the Quality was super.
In all the calls that I made, I nedeed to use the delay control only once (you push star and then number 3 or 4, it reacts fast and make the adjustment).

FTEL gave some dozens( around 100) of TEMPEST for evaluation. In short time , 1-2 months, we will find out if there is a comercial interest
for the TEMPEST.
Assuming that the Quality is good, and the product is available and does save money, then there is no way that the testers and others will not order, and buy.
FTEL has it with ATM as well as IP for phone company or for internal elecommunication system.

I find the last news very positive for FTEL, as it would be for NSPK or INTL in case that they would have been the choosen one.
