That's what I suspect. The consensus seems to be that the boomers are this archetypal lucky generation, with the world bending backwards to adjust to their tastes - and in their old age they will be a huge political force, capable of getting whatever they want. But the consensus may prove to be wrong. We may get a huge group of people heading into old age in a world which has more important priorities.

Forget about current levels of Medicare costs... they'll get cut, that's a given. About SS - it will probably become means tested. If they'll means test based on income, that's OK. But if they'll cut out those with any meaningful assets, it will become just another welfare program. No payments until your assets get spent down to practically nothing.
