Bayshore Blvd and the blocks beyond is stately very old Victorian homes, on low land, right at the end of Tampa Bay. When we get events like this, the cyclone just shoves the water into the bay with no place to escape except over that land. One day we'll get a really strong storm, perfectly situated, coupled with high tides, and that aristocratic area will be under 20+ feet of water.

I've got a feeling our cross Gulf friends in Texas will get theirs before this season is over. It may be a "be careful what you wish for" moment. This one would have been perfect for them.
