How much does an idea weigh? Now we're really getting zany but the answer was contained in my post clearly , once again you fail to read , though have not ever heard of this new collosal philosophical approach taken before of how much an idea weighs (zany indeed) but the simple answer would be : How much does a few millions of molecules of neuropeptides/aminoacids & their receptors weigh !! Certainly not very much but can have huge effects when built up over time , just like evolution . Your post was clearly ad hominem and a transparently weak attempt to avoid answering a very simple and legitimate question. No , the post contained data from the latest neurobiology & neurochemical studies of brain function now which there is a a virtual compendium of new data , what is ad hominem about this ? You response contains no discussion what sover of the ideas contained in the post , could give many many real examples of how this applies from food , drug addictions , hypochondria, .psychological emotional dependencies , dysfunction , and how it explains a host of ways that people respond the way they do based on physio chemical reactions that can be traced down to the elemental thoughts & feelings generated in the brain/body chemistry . There's no magic or supernatural happening here , is this what you are trying to avoid by continued evasion ?

Now back to your "zany" (your word) idea that thoughts & ideas have no substance . When a person is hooked up to a lie detector and being asked questions just what is that needle indicating when those thoughts feelings & ideas are going thru that person's mind? And perhaps lying ? On any mystical level or astral plane you wish to travel , all that you feel ,all that you "think" you emote & all you sense comes into the brain & has correponding chemical secretions & cellular responses . In each & every case . You can make up all the fairy tales you wish about uncreated beings that live apart from all the substance of the Universe but there are even better stories we are learning now about reality that explain it a little better than angels & demons . And those explain nothing . Unfortunately in the USA we still have 50% of people that still believe in these though that is changing ...

How much would the idea of a perfect circle or an infinite set of numbers weigh if your brain never existed? The short answer is they don't exist for that brain you just stated doesn't exist but how does a perfect circle come into existence , thats simple , a man takes a string & stake in the sand & pulls it around in a circle or looks up and sees the sun or the moon which are circles. (zing!) But first you have to have the 3 1/2 billion yrs of evolution for that brain to come into existence first , little things like a nervous system , spinal column , opposing thumbs , inherited genetics with the corresponding framework of instincts . These concepts & ideas rise out of other reactions to concepts & ideas , observations made stored & shared , passed down , taught , preserved in spoken & written language etc , but all originate with those first impressions built upon proto ideas . In every case they don't exist until that person trained to 'think" of them envisions them and that its self always involves a material process , no matter how etherial it may seem to you to your desire to "wish away" with fantasy .
