It was my understanding that after WWI that germany tried to print their way out of debt (because of excessive war debts). I'm struggling seeing how using gold might have contributed to the problem - unless they had to use their currency and go out and buy gold. BUT, I'd like to see what occurred first; inflation or requirement to pay in gold.
