'What gets me is the OVERT policy of both parties to "DO NOTHING", so they can get votes.'

Beg to differ. While that does seem to be a deliberate strategy for many Dems, with Repubs I suspect it's more a matter of once bitten, twice shy. I'm not sure any Repub has ever come out ahead pursuing any kind of immigration reform, and many have been attacked from the right just for trying.

So we're left with the only politically safe talking points for Republican candidates -- at least in primaries -- being about bigger, electrified fences and similar pandering. I'd like to think Romney will come up with some kind of serious proposal now that he's won the nomination, but he risks getting attacked from both the left and the right if he does so, so I'm not holding my breath.

Out of curiosity, though, what is the "something" that you're looking for in place of doing nothing?

PS: The most reliable way to get peole to stop coming here illegally? Have a crappy economy that kills low income jobs. With that in mind, are you sure Obama's really done "nothing"? ;-)
