Bad debts on not just "written off". In fact, write downs on bad debt have a cascading effect, negative water shed events; unless of course the Federal Government decides to step in again and back stop these loans so as to Bail our our Banks yet again. With Federal Funds rates already this low it should be plainfully obvious by now that the Feds are more interested in bailing out their Banker buddies than actually spurring economic growth for the masses. Debt rules the day, always will. Bottom line, you can not sustain economic growth and expect continued success on a backdrop of debt. This country finances its growth by debt. Economic debt/growth ratio is now 4 to 1. This is not a viable economic blueprint for success. This is an economic nightmare in the making,gg. Municiplaities like Stockton Ca and others alike have overleveraged their balance sheet and need to declare Bankruptcy in seeking bond holder protection. Our Federal Government will never declare Bankruptcy because of their ability to print new $'s daily and manipulate the credit markets.
The whole backdrop to this is economic ruin. Its a damn shame and not a recipe for S&P 1500!
