Yes, I agree with most of your points.
ASND has potential to go nto teens unless someone buys it
and my suspicion is that it will do it in another month or two.
Company's performance does not even seem like an issue for near future.
Folks at IOM thread were speculating a short squeeze for ages;
they did not get one, eventually the stock price went up based
on company's performance and I bet there still are many shorts in there.
So who do you like as shorts currently?

Why don't they just go out of business?

short interest rising is never a good sign, but this can help to explain the current lack of movement in asnd. if asnd price was dropping and the short interest was decreasing, that defines serious trouble for a stock.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows where to look for short interest for any stock on the net?? Thanks in advance.

all - while I agree that *organized shorties* know what they are doing, I think the deep pocket shorties are unlikely to bet on a 3 pointers (25 - 22) despite a 12% flip.

OTOH, personally I think that hoping for a short squeeze is as uncertain as hoping for a buyout. Of course, this is from the perspective of an investor (not that I am any good <sg>,) and not arbitageur.

<< The "dreaded short squeeze" is all too often a myth >>
Maybe not squeezes, but short covering is certainly an important
part of Ascend price swings - you don't suppose it can rise 5+ points because people actually are crazy to own the stock, do you?
All of the networker stocks have a large short interest and the quick price run-ups are primarily these shares being taken out of the way of good news. Conversely, a whif of bad news generates a "sell" momentum. Most of the trading is dice rollers except market-wide
drops is usually Fidelity Magellan making adjustments.
