when elections are held, the general population should now be more inclined to consider who the candidates are because of their policies and agendas, as they could seriously affect their life styles and personal futures.
It shouldn’t, IMO, necessarily be about tribal affiliations. It should rather be about what is best, OVERALL, for one’s country

Sounds like what the US needs, and just as difficult to achieve. <g>

bruwin, I'm always very hesitant to get into politics on these boards because things often turn in a bad way whenever politics turns up, so I hope this doesn't go in the wrong way, but I think what you're referring to wrt Africa is highlighting a flaw with democracy absent strong civil liberties and property rights. Democracy absent a bill of rights can quickly turn into tyranny if I can outvote you and do what I want.
