the goal has always been gov't control single payer health care.... i'm sure the existing insurance companies were scared $hitless after watching the fascist takeover of GM so they are 'going along to get along' but i agree with you, in the end, unless the TAX can be raised over and over to high enough levels to become a real disincentive for simply dropping your insurance and pay the tax, the insurers will eventually become an unnecessary 'utility' which has now been replaced by gov't bureaucracy .....we will end up with a two system, one for the wealthy who can afford separate, private healthcare, and the rest of us who get to stand in line
