you didn't finish reading my post did you? Have you followed NT pricing in the last year? MS bundling of its corporate products?
you're better off loading up on (semi-oxymoronic) free software. After all Bill's worried about the needs of the customer (he knows better, and he really does). Go load up, Bill's countin' on ya.

Sorry, the Chicken analogy is way too far out for me.

How much chicken did they give you? Did they give you years worth of chicken supplies so that you wouldn't buy competitors chicken? Did they take the revenues of another corner of the market that they have cornered and use this to fund the "Free Chicken" giveaway? Does their cornering the chicken market have a way to set proprietary standards for the way chicken is cut/raised/produced? Is it that expensive for startups to enter the chicken market?

More than likely it was advertising budget set aside for this purpose, not monopoly money.

Far fetched analogies don't demonstrate anything.

Nothing is free. Someone Will pay for IE later. Americans love "Free stuff" and credit cards.
