This article on SA is bullish on F saying that the co.'s warning on weakness in Europe sets it well for a future run. His price target is very bullish going out three years.

I see two short term catalysts to get the ball rolling:

1. The transportation bill passed today allows corporate pension plans to use the average interest rate for the past 25 years instead of the last two years in calculating future returns. Under-funded plans like F are magically less under-funded and the bottom line earnings improved.

2. GM, FORD, NISSAN, FIAT, VW and more report earnings on July 3rd and are expected to come in with the highest level of July sales in the U.S. in five years.

Auto-related. I still hold shares in auto-related. Perhaps the stocks' decline anticipates correctly the decline in their business (weak profits to come).

Among the majors, I continue to hold shares of Ford, GM, Toyota, and Volkswagen (F, GM, TM, VLKAY).

With today's drop in F I'm considering adding a bit to my few share position. I also have losing positions with a couple of suppliers to the majors -- AXL and TRW

As I've stated several times here before, for me, my favorite way to play the auto business is with auto retailers when I can find them at attractive prices. Sometimes for me that means at fair prices, not necessarily at value-priced. For now I hold AN (recently trimmed), PAG (recently added to), LAD (a few shares), and GPI (a stub).

Fwiw, regarding tires, one company I'm re-looking at this weekend will be Titan International (TWI). This specialized tire manufacturer (makes Big off-road tires) was discussed here previously, and I believe bought-and-sold well by a few people here (Not me: I did not buy).
