Technology Stocks : Novell (NOVL) dirt cheap, good buy? -- Ignore unavailable to you. Want to Upgrade?

From Briefing.Com today under Tech Stocks:

'... Finally, Novell reported earnings of $0.02, ahead of estimates but well below year ago earnings of $0.17... Sales tumbled 30%... But
company noted that it was well on its way to recovery... And the Cubs are on their way to the World Series. "

This I believe is the general attitude of analysts and investors in the know about this company. If they do manage to turn it around, and investors are rewarded accordingly (the two won't necessarily go hand in hand) it will be an absolute miracle.

Joe,

I always figured that my first post to this board would be addressed to you so I guess I better slip this in now. I've been lurking here for months and have really enjoyed your contributions (and warnings). You've brought a sense of . . . um . .. style to the board.

Good luck to you. Hope you stick around.

Marc

PS--Apple's a buy. <<gg>>

Hi Joe...congratulations. No longer separated, now fully divorced. Great feeling isn't it? I guess I can bow out of this thread now. I hope others such as Dwight, Dieter, Paul, Vip, Don, Jack and Jack, EKS, George, Stuart, BP, and all the other faithfull Novellite's I've shared so much time with over the last year or two fare well also.

Thank you Joe for all your input and effort with this investment. We can't say we didn't give it a helluva try.

Best of luck to you Joe.

Hi Joe,

Yep, Microsoft won again. It makes me mad because I believe that in the long run a lot of good technology will be replaced with whatever Microsoft can slop together.

I bought some Jan 10 puts this afternoon to round out the 7 1/2s. TA, news and market conditions should make it a nobrainer. I would have stayed long if there were any indication that Novell was willing to do battle. They're cowering in a corner and trying to pull the hole in after them.

I'll be double damned if I'll cheer Microsoft on and I don't have the heart to wish Novell or any of the longs bad luck, but the play is too obvious to pass up.

Beside the puts I'm holding APM and cash. APM is an oversold, bottom fishing, value play. With recent gaps in the chart all the way into the 30s. At the 52 week low around 16 the PE is 4.5. We'll see.

It should be more fun for me to stay on the thread and rag Novell lurkers about their lousy marketing while holding puts than it was while holding a ton of stock.

It looks like most of your stock is up today. Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving.

Regards,

Don
