And truly you were robbed. That level of cost for a minor ER after hours visit is inexcusable.

The current system is very very broken, and as it stands there is an enormous tax on healthy people, in the form of premiums that are much higher than the expected medical expenses expected, and in higher charges than justified for the level of care received.

We are doubly taxed in order to pay for the uninsured.

My gripes with Obamacare, and there are many many many, include:
1) the 21 new taxes in it, at least several of which apply to me , but several to the middle class
2) the millions of new insureds which will be dumped into the system, which is already strained in many areas
3) The reams of regulations which are going to be brought about
4) The fact that there are no incentives in it for any of the insureds to remain healthy
5) the fact that the government has no clue what the real costs are, what the unintended consequences are--this is the same government that has done so well with Amtrak, the USPS, social security, and Medicare (and don't worry, I'm not exempting GWB for introducing the unfunded Rx drug coverage that costs us trillions over time)
6) the oversight committee that will be overseeing the process has the authority to make unilateral decisions that can affect the lives of millions--too much power for unaccountable appointees
and more...........

On a personal level, I have found 2 advantages:
1) my daugfhter can stay on my insurance for 3 more years
2) with a higher percentage of ppl having health insurance, the likelihood of me having to go out in the middle of the night to take care of someone for free is diminished---what I am paid remains to be seen
