Fascinating. I never checked it out.

Interesting story, anyway. If it didn't happen, it should have.

Maybe there is a real Leo Carrington out there somewhere who will actually tell his employees about the real world of capitalism and free enterprise.

Transcript of remarks made by Leo Carrington (who doesn’t exist) to a mandatory meeting of all employees of Carrington Automotive Enterprises, Inc. (which doesn’t exist either) on August 17th, 2009 at the Royal Payne Hotel (a purely imaginary place) in Norfolk, Virginia (which does, in fact, exist).Urban legend.

I am a retired small business owner (sales $30M annually). Even decades ago I was very aware of political views of my employees. Those who understood capitalism fared much better when it came to distributing the profits. Those who were uninformed tended to be unhappy and resigned at a much greater rate than those who were happy in their job.

The Carrington story, even if urban legend, represents the thinking of owners who sign the payroll checks with their own money.
