Government will be the death of us if we're not careful. I forwarded your note to my friend in the Ministry of Health under President Obama's Health Czar, but did not implicate you. The following was her response: You are so selfish. It is far better to be *fair* with healthcare than to provide it willy nilly. We must dedicate ourselves to proper distribution of healthcare - race, socioeconomic status, geography and other demographics really matter if we try an achieve this goal. Our plan is to: Lower costs through use of technology (1) Provide Fair access (2) Eliminate For Profit Medicine (3) Standardize care and direct research towards community goals (4) Individuals are statistics - we are interested in improving the underserved in our entire nation. **************** (1) Your Government can be trusted to know everything about you, and imagine how proactive we can be with genetic testing for everyone! (2) Given past discrimination, some adjustments to queueing strategy will be addressed to provide affirmative action is taken on access. (3) No one should profit from a basic right - this adds cost and paperwork which can both be eliminated. (4) Research is directed at insanely expensive care for the rich - this money can be used elsewhere towards improving healthcare for everyone - not just the privileged **************** Just remember - eventually you will learn to love your government.
