Yes.

Socialism, it's been said, is when everyone is equal. That's a fallacy. In reality, inevitably some are more "equal" than others. People think that socialism will protect them from "Da Man" - the rich bosses. Instead, they invariably get a different "Man" - the political bosses, who are both rich AND powerful. So powerful that they have the police, the secret police, and every other imaginable armed help under their direct command.

That says it in a nutshell. I am reading Thomas Sowell's Intellectuals and Society. I am in the part where he talks about liberal pols supporting Hitler, and ignoring his aggressive behavior, and how after the War they refused to acknowledge Stalin's murder of millions. It really clarifies the way they shape the views of society. In fact it is amazing. I see the same thing now. We have a President and Attorney General who are acting like dictators and the intellectuals do not challenge them at all. In fact they defend them. This has to be reversed or we will be ruled by tyrants before long. lj
