Hi Dave. Don't apologize for off-topic disucussion, every post we make offers insight to the poster's thought process which I for one always value as an aid in understanding other posts by that poster.

I know where you are coming from in your reliance on forward growth projections and have read a great deal of the weight some analists give to PEs adjusted for forward growth.

I guess my problem is if "trailing" PE's are considered worthless, how can "projected growth" formula's carry any more credibility? I watched friends loose considerably on WDC because they relied way too heavily on the future growth factors over the last 120 days.

I don't believe anyone can fully quantify the affects of the market, (domestic and international) + changes in the given company's techological peers + changes in core technology + analysts sentiments far enough into the future to rely on forward projection to the exclusion of trailing statistics and current day snap-shots.

Just my 2 cents.
