My doctor is a Physician's Assistant, which I have found to be much better because they can do most of the stuff a doctor will do at lower cost, and spend more time with you to boot.

The last time I saw him we whined about the effects of getting older. I hope he doesn't retire before I croak, but I'm afraid he's thinking about it.

My primary doctor decided he would just retire - several years earlier than he had planned - just because of Obamacare.

My primary doctor decided he would just retire - several years earlier than he had planned - just because of Obamacare. He says there is no way a young doctor can open a practice these days, with Obamacare, and frankly, doesn't understand why any young person would even want to be a doctor ....

It's not only ObamaCare. Over the years, bureaucrats and politicians made it prohibitively expensive to be in practice, even as they kept cutting reimbursements. You can't just be a "doc" - you need to hire a couple of people just to push paper. Nowadays, from time to time I see articles and "studies", indicating that "doctors don't want to be in practice and prefer [sic!] to work as employees". Of course, you dummbkopf, they "prefer" - because that's the only way they can still make a living!

This, basically, forces older docs to retire early. They can't "slow down" and continue working. If they slow down, they won't even earn their overhead. And as employees, they must compete with 30 year olds, which after a while is liable to become a pain in the backside.

It's a big mess, courtesy of politicians and their bureaucrats. Among the older docs, those who can afford to retire early will probably do so. But there will be no dearth of med school applicants - many young people like medicine. Also, in our depressed times there aren't too many fields where you can still, relatively reliably, earn a living.

All because of the ego of Obama and his minions

Seems to me they're just a symptom of a deeper cancer long in development. Most of our neighbors have no idea what the idea of liberty once meant.
