You misunderstand me. I say that now, when society disapproves of such violence against children, there usually is something wrong with a parent who goes against the cultural norms to hit their child. If "everyone is doing it"- I agree, it's like any other bad behavior that people gave in to for group reasons- drinking to excess, smoking, whatever- but now? Now it's not the cultural norm. That's why I said what I said.
