I suspect it's too much work to be practical for a laptop. My little hand crank radio will wear you out listening to a baseball game at the beach.

In 2005, $100 wind up laptops were publicized and then nothing happened.

Still around ($200 now). Just doesn't have a crank. There's a solar panel option for charging, though.
