I think most are at least for decriminalization; but Democrat politicians are chickenshit to raise the issue because they have their pockets lined by law enforcement and penal system union dollars. Reality is those lobbies are big and powerful and the issue is very easy to demagogue.

I don't often find myself in agreement with Barney Frank, but he is definitely right about the hypocrisy of it all. He is, of course, wrong, to suggest that it all rests on the backs of conservatives. Democrats do precisely the same thing.

The drug decriminalization issue is a big one for me obviously, because I think it is very embarrassing from a human rights standpoint as well as being tremendously expensive (a trillion over 10 years) and it wastes American lives and talent. That we now have a president who, had he been caught and prosecuted under the same laws he now supports, would never have become president -- THAT is the height of hypocrisy IMO.
