In my experience, bear markets occur when everyone is saying "I can't believe how hood things are". People are quitting their jobs for higher paying ones. They're selling their houses at a profit, and buying a bigger one. Interest rates are going up. Commodities are inflating. Equities PE's are expanding, to the point of overvaluation. Money supply is contracting.
I look at these metrics now, and see no sign of any of these things occurring. This gives me the confidence to buy on pullbacks.
I'm not saying that none of these things can/will occur by 12/2013, but for now, I think pullbacks are buying opportunities.
We'll get other chances. The market left a gap below us, and will need to get filled eventually. I hope to take some profits before then, so I can buy it again <g>

Honestly and respectfully, I fully agree with each and every one of your points, the economic picture looks like a complete disaster and beyond... but, I have to believe the charts, that's what tells me where we're going... making presumptions and estimates and assessments about the future of our economy is depressing, I see nothing positive coming out of it... but, the charts are telling me a very different story... I have to go with the charts, not because they tell a nicer story, but because I believe the charts tell the true story and fundamental assessment is just guessing...
