I think Microsoft's golden geese are dying. Caught an ad that Windows 8 will sell for $22 as an upgrade to 7.

Actually, $15. It was free last time for persons buying Vista PCs for some months before Win7 RTM. Reduces sales drop offs (you know, like the 4S is seeing right now) of the previous OS; very smart. So you would be doubly wrong, and remarkably, in the same sentence.

Through Jan 31st, one will be able to upgrade any Windows XP through Windows 7 to Windows 8 for $39.99. Thats about a quarter of goosing the adoption curve (surely you were aware the bulk of Windows licensing revenue is through new PC sales, no?). I like it; I'll be able to upgrade my PC and buy a tablet (form-factor, content creating PC - not an iOS toylet).

You should check out the chart again. Especially those two items way down at the bottom. They'll be accelerating their cannabalization of eachother. Its not going to be pretty. X-D

Mac OS X is really going to start looking like a turd circling the toilet... even to the fanboys.
