The "Flood" occurred 1600 years after Adam was born. And about 700 years after he died! Adam lived to be 923 years old so there must have been several dozen people scrambling for higher ground (along with the Platypuses). After the flood, the freshwater fish were able to readjust to freshwater--wherever that was--thank goodness.
