[NXTL]

<<< I've been accumulating Nextel Communications (NXTL) since this summer. Backed by the McCaw family, with a major stake by Motorola, this stock is spending billions on its infrastructure, increasing earnings in the triple digits, and is expected to turn profitable in 1998. Hold for 2 to 3 years for a ten-bagger. Check it out. (also SI thread).>>>

Nextel is one of my favorite stories. I started buying it in the spring of '95 before I even discovered the Internet. I'd read some article in the LATimes and liked this guy McCaw. Sounded like a real entrepeneur. . .

Somewhere along the way I talked one of my daughters into buying a few shares and she ended up getting it at the high that year, I believe 19. Well, she's got a full-service broker (thanks to her papa), so doesn't trade. Buy-and-hold it is. But, believe me, she's been glad. She did the same thing with Iomega. Bgt it at 7.5 and rode it up and down and now back up. She got JMAR at 1.75. CMRO at 9. SBUX at 14.5. All in small amounts, but that's where you start.

Now, if I'd taken my own advice. :))

But like you said, we got a good education. And I would add, you never know where any one decision will take you. Perhaps TI will be the best investment of all. If it's the Intel of DSP, then it's possible.

Cheers!
