The WSJ sprinkles iPad and Apple through the column, as if name dropping, and nothing more.

If it were Amazon making 5 million or even 10 million Kindle Fire 2 in September - November, the article would read almost the same and the headline would be wrong.
That's a good point. One thing we can be reasonably sure of is that none of Apple's suppliers are likely to go on record saying, "We've gotten orders for millions of these gizmos from Apple." They might say they've gotten the orders, but they sure as hell aren't going to get themselves in trouble by confirming that the orders come from Apple.

And since a lot of companies use the same contract manufacturers, the orders could be for any of them.
