Friedman had it pretty much right 40 years ago.

He sure did. No surprise - laws of economics do not change.

And yet, a century and a half after Bastiat demolished the Broken Window Fallacy, our politicians, the public, and the official economists still think that massive government spending (aka destruction of savings) will improve the economy.

People see only what they want to see. Not many are willing to do some mental work.
