<<There was risk, but it wasn't political.>>

Oh please. His political future viability would have ended, if he didn't succeed in the stealth raid. Don't even go there. Obama would have taken the blame... Obama gets the credit for making what was the right call.

The Washington Post piece goes into detail as to the situation with Bin Laden in the mid 1990's. Hardly a criticism of Clinton. We didn't have a PDB warning of 9-11 yet, still he took the threat of terrorists seriously.

FACT: Clinton later ordered the killing of Bin Laden. Clinton advocated ample funding of domestic law enforcement against Republican budget hawks and the NRA driven anti-federal "jack booted thugs" movement. The Republicans called for Star Wars funding, in the 2000 election., shifting us back to fearing ICBM missles, not terrorist low tech killers.

The fact is that the Bushies virtually blew off the PDB about Bin Laden, and were reprioritizing national security (along with Enron driven energy policy, and further Bank and Wall Street deregulation.) Again, you don't hear today's RNC or candidates aligning with Bush or Cheney's "accomplishments." Speaks loudly, regardless of the chatter here.
