If AMZN wants to make a phone, RIM is inexpensive right now, and would provide them with a good patent portfolio :)

The Kindle was built on Amazon buying cellular wholesale and wrapping it in the product pricing. What would stop them from offering a Platinum Prime to do similarly for a smartphone? Even if there are data limits, they could charge AWS type incremental pricing, at least on their own phone. It's a threat to the carriers' model.

Road Walker and others have started to grumble about pricing. Sprint and Virgin are following customer demand.

VZW and T want to be in the driver's seat, like they used to be, but their moves to unbundle and raise pricing won't work where Amazon competes.

Can you imagine the effect on Amazon's reputation and business if they break the carriers' hold?

Just thinking.
